About the School

The School of Business and Entrepreneurship is one of the established schools in Bomet University College. The School was established in the year 2016 with only one Department and over time it has grown to the current three Departments of Management Science, Accounting & Finance, and, Marketing & Procurement. Our programmes include: Bachelor of Business Management, Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, Bachelor of Science in Project Planning and Management and Bachelor of Science in Financial Economics. In January 2019 we started the Private Sponsored Programmes (PSSP) for evening and weekend classes.
All our programmes have incorporated elements of Green Sustainability and emerging issues of Business and Management as articulated in the Vision of the University. The programmes are geared towards understanding risk and opportunities in the world of Business.

Our Slogan is ‘Customer Centric Green School. Thus we believe that the Student of SBE is our esteemed customer who comes first in whatever we do at the school. We assure our customers on the provision of quality teaching, research and outreach provided by our competent team.
The School of Business and Entrepreneurship is driven by a culture of integrity, professionalism and academic excellence. We anticipate to graduate focused, creative and practical oriented individuals who can work smartly both nationally and internationally.
Our Programmes
Bachelor of Business Management (BBM)
Admission Requirements into this Program are:
At least a mean grade of C+ (Plus) and a C (Plain) in both Mathematics and English Language in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) OR At least two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) plus at least a pass in Mathematics and English at “O” Level OR Be a holder of a Diploma in Business Studies validated by Commission for University OR Be a holder of a professional certificate in business studies recognized by CUE.
Upon graduation, a Student has the following career prospects:
• Banker
• Consultant
• Accountant
• Procurement Officer
• Insurance Underwriter

• Business Manager
• Public /State Officer

Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management (BSc. HRM)

Admission Requirements into this Program are:

At least a mean grade of C+(Plus) at KCSE or equivalent qualification recognized by Bomet University College and a C+(Plus) in English, OR Diploma in Human Resource Management, Project Planning and Management, Entrepreneurship, Economic/Agricultural Economics, Business Management or any other Business/ Management related course recognised by Bomet University College OR At least two principlas at “A” Level with Art Subjects. OR admission may also be granted to candidates with alternative qualifications approved by Bomet University College.
Upon graduation, a Student has the following career prospects:
• Banker
• Public /State Officer
• Human Resource Consultant
• Lecturer
• Human Resource Officer/Manager
Bachelor of Science in Project Planning and Management (BSc. PPM)

Admission requirements into this Program are:

At least a mean grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE or equivalent qualification recognised by Bomet University College. OR Diploma in Project Planning and Management, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Economic/Agricultural Economics, Business Management, or any other Business/ Management related course recognized by Bomet University College. OR At least two Principals at “A” Levels with Art Subjects. OR Be a holder of a Professional Certificate in Business Studies Recognized by CUE.

Upon graduation, a Student has the following career prospects:
• Public/State Officer
• Project Consultant
• Lecturer
• Project manager with private/public sector , NGO’s and International Organizations
Bachelor of Science in Financial Economics

Admission Requirements into this Program are:

At least a mean grade of C+ (Plus) at KCSE and at least C (Plain) in English or Kiswahili and C+ in Mathematics. OR At least 2 principal passes and one subsidiary in Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education plus at least a pass in English and Mathematics at “O” Level. OR A Holder of Diploma in Economics or Business related field.
Upon graduation, a Student has the following career prospects:
• Consultant
• Public Officer
• Economic advisor
• Banker.

Dr. Phillip Kiprotich Bii (PhD)

Dean, School of Business and Entrepreneurship.


Dr. Phillip Bii is the Dean, School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Bomet University College. He holds a PhD in Business Management (Strategic Management), Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Moi University. His research interest is on leadership and Emotional Intelligence. He is a Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management and has a lot of experience years in both Academic and Corporate World. He is an Associate Member of African Academic of Management and Kenya Institute of Management.

 Dr. Richard Rotich (PhD)

Head of The Department of Management Science.


Dr. Richard Rotich is the Chairman of the Department of Management Science. He holds a PhD in Business management (Strategic Management) from Moi University, Kenya; Master of Business Administration from Kenyatta University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from Egerton University. His research interest is in field of Human Resource capabilities, Employee retention, Work arrangements, Organizational competitiveness and Quality of work life; He is an associate member KIM and a member IHRM; also, a career motivational speaker. He is a lecturer in the field of management science and has authored and published papers in referred journals. In 2017, he attended a six weeks Strategic Leadership Development Program (SLDP) training at the Kenya School of Government. He has a wide range of experience in teaching, training and management both in public and private sectors.

Dr. Clement Nkaabu (PhD)

Dr. C.G. Nkaabu is a Lecturer in the School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Bomet University College. He is a holder of PhD in Business Management (Marketing Option) from Moi University. He has extensive experience in teaching, research and supervision of post graduate students. He has held positions of Campus Director and Senior Assistant Registrar in his previous appointments. Dr.C.G. Nkaabu has consulted for various corporations in the areas of rebranding, product development, customer satisfaction surveys, attitude change, customer service and strategy development. He is a seasoned trainer and a motivational speaker. He has mentored and continues to mentor many students. His research interests are in the areas of branding, consumer behaviour, knowledge management and entrepreneurship. Notably, he has authored numerous papers in peer reviewed journals. He is a member of the Marketing Society of Kenya and Marketing Science Institute. Dr. Nkaabu´s personal creed is “Always Glad to Serve”.

Ms. Nelly Mutai

Ms. Nelly Mutai holds a master’s in Business Administration (Finance Option) from Kenyatta University and Bachelor of Business Management from Moi University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Administration (Finance option) at Kabarak University. Currently, she is serving as a Tutorial Fellow in the Finance and Accounting Department and the Examination Coordinator in the School of Business and Entrepreneurship. Ms. Mutai has a far and wide experience in lecturing and consultancy in financial management. Her interest in research is on emerging trends in Business and specifically in Banking and Finance. She also has passion in community outreach activities and mentorship programmes.

Mr. Geoffrey Biwott


Mr. Biwott Geoffrey holds a Master of Philosophy in Business Management (MBM) and a Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) both from Moi University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Management at Moi University while serving as a Tutorial Fellow in the Department of Management Science, Bomet University College. Mr. Biwott has a wealth of experience lecturing in Business Management and Human resource Management in the areas of Management, General Management, Global Business Management, Human resource Management and Labour laws. He also doubles up as Timetable Coordinator for the School of Business and Entrepreneurship.

Mr. Amos Chepsergon


Amos Chepsergon is a holder of Masters of Philosophy in Business Management (Strategic Management Option) and a Bachelor of Business Management both from Moi University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Management at Moi University while serving as a Tutorial Fellow in Bomet University College, School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Department of Management Science. Amos has diverse skills and experience in lecturing Business Management and Strategic Management areas.

Miss Leah Jemutai Barno


Ms Jemutai holds a Masters of Business Management (Finance Option) and a Bachelor of Business Management (Finance option) both from Moi University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Management (Finance option) from Moi University. Her research interest is on Financial Literacy, Investment Decisions and Capital Structure. Ms Leah is serving as a Tutorial Fellow in the Department of Finance and Accounting and has six years in teaching and research. Miss Jemutai is a Mentor, Patron Christian Union (CU) and the Coordinator, School Choir. Currently, She is the School of Business and Entrepreneurship Industrial Attachment Coordinator.

Justine
Mr. Justin Mabati


Mr Justine Mabati holds a Master of Business Administration (Accounting & Finance) and a Bachelor of Education Arts (Accounting Major) both from University of Nairobi. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Business Administration at Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT). Justine is also a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K). He is currently serving as a Tutorial Fellow in the Department of Finance and Accounting. Justine has a wealth of experience in Academic and Corporate world in the areas of Taxation, Financial Accounting, Auditing and Financial Management. He is a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and of Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Justine doubles up as the Coordinator for trips in School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE) in Bomet University College.

Mr. George Mugo

Administrator School of Business and Entreprenuership

George Mugo holds a Master of Business Administration (Strategic Management) from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting option) from Egerton University. George is also a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) and an Associate Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He is currently the Administrative Assistant in the School of Business and Entrepreneurship. In his capacity as a Professional and a Christian, George has mentored and continues to mentor Students, Youths and Budding Professionals. His 15 years experience in both private and public sectors ranges from consultancy in internal auditing, external auditing, conveyancing, business and strategic management.
