School of Arts and Social Sciences

The School of Arts & Social Sciences (SASS) provides quality and innovative educational environment for nurturing knowledge, skills and attitudes in Humanities and Social Sciences. Students admitted to SASS are prepared to pursue career paths in Communications, Media, Publication, Public Relations, Translation, Literature and Languages, Religion and Theology, Governance and Public Administration, Social Work and Community Development as well as in Physical, Human and Environmental Geography. The School emphasizes interdisciplinary approach and practical/field/industrial attachment to knowledge acquisition, research and training. The School currently has three departments, namely the Department of Arts, Governance and Communication Studies; the Department of Geography, Environment and Development Studies, and the Department of Religion, Culture and Gender Studies.

Admission requirements: A minimum of Grade C+ (Plus) at KCSE, a C+ (Plus) in either Religious Education/History and Government/Geography; OR Two Principals and One Subsidiary Pass at “A” level; OR a Diploma in a related discipline from a recognized Institution. Students in the the BA General programme may select one of the following Degree clusters (either BA Religion, or BA Anthropology, or BA History). Among career prospects upon graduation include:
