It is my humble duty to welcome you to Bomet University (BU) and affirm our commitment to providing quality education to qualified Students. Bomet University is a public university in Bomet County, Kenya, officially becoming the 36th chartered university in the country after being awarded a university charter on 4th February 2026.

Founded in 2017 as Bomet University College, a constituent University of Moi University, the institution has grown rapidly in both academic programmes and student numbers.

Bomet University is strategically situated in Bomet Town with a campus situated at Sigor Town, and offering a wide range of certificate, diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes across multiple schools including Education, Business and Economics, Pure and Applied Sciences, and Arts and Social Sciences.

Bomet University is committed to quality teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and green development.

Today it serves as a key centre for higher education in the South Rift region, offering a range of programmes and contributing to social and economic transformation at local and national levels.

As of 2026, Bomet University serves about 8,400 students, reflecting sustained growth from less than 200 at its inception. Bomet University has engaged qualified faculty (Teaching) and Non-Teaching staff to ensure all academic and welfare needs of our stakeholders are met.

The Registrar Academic and Student Affairs office plays a critical role in the realization of the core mandate of the University. The Office provides leadership and strategic direction in admissions, examinations, student records, programmes and training services, and secretarial services to the Committee of Deans, Senate, and its sub-committees.

The Office of the Registrar, Academic and Student Affairs is responsible for providing information to prospective and continuing students on undergraduate admissions, orientation of new students, management of student records, academic calendar preparation, credit transfer evaluation, coordination of examinations, and declaration of results.

These activities are managed through four departments: Admissions and Students' Registry Department, Examinations Department, Programmes and Training Department, and Senate Secretariat Department.

The University offers a wide range of competitive academic programmes under the Government-Sponsored Students Programme (GSSP) and Privately Sponsored Students Programme (PSSP). In addition, the Office coordinates ceremonial functions and provides secretarial support to the Senate and its standing committees.

We provide extensive information both online and physically at the respective Huduma Centre desks within the University. We also maintain active social media presence on Facebook and X and welcome queries and comments.

Government-sponsored students are admitted through KUCCPS, while privately sponsored students apply directly to the University for admission. We encourage interested qualified individuals to enroll in the various programmes offered.
